Interfaith Relations After Oct. 7th & the War in Gaza
Friday, October 24th • Kol Ami
5:30pm Dinner • 6:30pm Service • 7:30pm Program
The issue of Israel-Palestine has always proved challenging to interfaith relations around the world—but never more so than since October 7th and the ensuing war in Gaza. Sixty years after Nostra Aetate, the war has placed immense strain on interreligious relations worldwide.
Join us for an important evening of reflection and conversation. The evening will begin with dinner at 5:30pm, followed by our Erev Shabbat service at 6:30pm. Our program will begin at 7:30pm.
Please RSVP below!
While there is no cost for this event, donations are greatly appreciated.
Hana Bendcowsky (Israeli-Jewish) and John Munayer (Palestinian-Christian), two interfaith educators and dialogue practitioners from the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue in Jerusalem, will be visiting the United States to mark the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the groundbreaking Vatican II document that transformed Jewish-Christian relations.
Imam Muhammed Mehtar is the Director of the Islamic Center of Conejo Valley in Thousand Oaks, California, and formerly served as the Imam of the Central Mosque in Salt Lake City, Utah. His leadership and interfaith outreach have extended to institutions such as Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, Utah Valley University, UCLA, Berkeley, Cal Lutheran, and numerous universities and colleges across California.
