Prayer Writing Workshop
Tuesday, June 21st • 6:30 pm • in-person at Kol Ami
Kol Ami is now the proud owner of 150 copies of Siddur Sha’ar Zahav—which speaks to the experiences of all of our lives. In the process of creating this beautiful 650+ page siddur, the 140 co-creators found words to heal old wounds, draw the community together, and inspire countless worshippers of many faiths around the world.
This 90-minute, in-person workshop will provide a framework for further exploring Siddur Sha’ar Zahav and an opportunity to bring your own prayers to life. It will be led by Rabbi Sam Spector and Martin (Marty) Tannenbaum, a third generation Utahn—who now lives in San Francisco and is a lay service leader and one of the many co-creators of Siddur Sha’ar Zahav.
Please RSVP using the form below!
Marty Tannenbaum grew up in Salt Lake City as a third generation Utah Jew. He was one of the contributing editors of Siddur Sha'ar Zahav, a groundbreaking LGBTQ+ inspired siddur. He is a member of both Congregation Kol Ami and Sha'ar Zahav in San Francisco and is active in Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities and causes. Marty is an experienced educator with a deep passion for racial and social justice. A former corporate executive, he now consults with national organizations and leads the creation of educational and instructional resources, workshops, and more. He lives in San Francisco with his husband, Alex Ingersoll.
The siddur is available for purchase in hard copy and e-book format at shaarzahav.org/our-siddur.
