Jewish Day at the Utah State Capitol

Tuesday, February 25th
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join Rabbi Samuel L. Spector, Congregation Kol Ami’s Social Action Committee, National Council of Jewish Women, and others. Be the voice of Utah’s Jewish community to our elected representatives!

We will focus on two critically important pieces of legislation:

Sen. Jacob Anderegg's SB 39: The most significant proposal in years to address the root causes of homelessness—$35M for rental assistance to low-income households who would otherwise become homeless and for financing the construction of new affordable housing units. Here is a fact sheet on the bill and here is a backgrounder on the importance of affordable housing

Rep. Patrice Arent's HCR 12: A legislative resolution that "encourages the State Board of Education and local education agencies to provide Holocaust and genocide education." In her final session before she retires after 20 years of legislative service, Rep. Arent, a Kol Ami member and the only Jewish member of the Utah Legislature, is sponsoring this resolution to ensure that the coming generations of Utah students will learn about the darkest periods in human history so that they may dedicate themselves to ensuring that they never happen again.

Meet at 3:00 pm in the Kletting Room in the Senate Building at the Capitol (the east building with the cafeteria next to the Capitol). RSVP to Social Action Committee or  NCJW.
