(KUTV) — A Utah synagogue is having an interfaith vigil Tuesday night for the victims of the Pittsburgh shooting.
Congregation Kol Ami — Utah's largest synagogue — is hosting an interfaith candlelight vigil in memory of those who died in the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Oct. 27.

(KUTV) — A new Salt Lake City Rabbi is asking for peace in the wake of thePittsburgh attacks.
Rabbi Sam Spector of the Congregation Kol Ami said religious violence was committed in ignorance.
"I feel this person probably has a tremendous amount of ignorance to Judaism,” he said. “I can’t think of anything the Jewish community has done to provoke an act of violence such as this. Especially the Jewish individuals who were victims today.”

Spector, 30, is the senior rabbi of Congregation Kol Ami in Salt Lake, Utah. Born in 1988 in Seattle, Wash., he majored in Judaic studies and minored in behavioral psychology at UC-San Diego, where he was active in Alpha Epsilon Pi.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Yom Kippur is a day when many people of the Jewish faith come together and visit their local synagogues.
The holiday, which will begin on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 18 and end on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 19, focuses on central themes of atonement and repentance.
Jewish people traditionally conduct a 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer during the holiday.

SALT LAKE CITY — As the sun began to set on Aug. 17, members of Salt Lake City’s Congregation Kol Ami community gathered on the covered patio for the Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. Rabbi Samuel L. Spector welcomed those present, saying, “How good it is for brothers and sisters to come together and sit together.”
