We will study the following objectives:
– Historical, political, and social context of the times and how they shaped Judaism,
– Values that emerged out of each period and the significant patterns of development, and
– Underlying power structures impacting Israel during these periods.  

Study Text: "From Text to Tradition: A History of Second Temple & Rabbinic Judaism" by Lawrence H. Schiffman, Ph.D. Professor at New York University, one of f the foremost biblical scholars of this period, and a specialist in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
