Social Action Opportunity in Texas

As Rabbi Wenger stated on Shabbat, June 23rd, on the Bimah, the policy of separating children from their parents which has been applied to all border crossings, even to those people seeking asylum, is heartbreaking and horrifying. We, as a Community, have to make a choice and make a stand with families fleeing violence and persecution.

Temple Emanuel in McAllen, Texas, has made a stand to provide a location for our members to forward money and care packages to help the families who are being detained and separated. Michael Blum is Temple Emanuel's Social Action Chair.

Here are the things needed by the refugees:

Pedialyte, deodorant, blankets, women's underwear and bras, maternity pants and tops, shoes for men-women-children (particularly athletic shoes, toiletries, and children's toys.

If you wish to prepare a package for refugees, please send packages to

Temple Emanuel, 2300 North Chai ("C") Street, McAllen, Texas  78504
