History

Our Synagogue, Congregation Kol Ami, is a merger of two older congregations: Congregation B'nai Israel (Reform), founded in 1891, and Congregation Montefiore (Conservative) dating to 1899. We do our best to serve every Jew in our midst. We belong to both the Union for Reform Judaism and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Our synagogue membership is approximately 375 family units. We boast an excellent religious school from kindergarten through confirmation at grade ten. We also have preschool groups which meet once a month.

Utah is proud of its active Jewish community including the United Jewish Federation, The Joanne & Richard McGillis School at 668 South 1300 East, the I.J. and Jeanne Wagner Center at #2 North Medical Drive, as well as local chapters of Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, O.R.T., and B'nai Brith.

Utah's Jewish population numbers approximately 4000. It will be a pleasure to welcome you to our community!
